Abstract: Valveless pumping can can be described as the non-equilibrium average of a fluid-filled elastic tube to which periodic forces are applied. The flow in the tube is usually obtained via the incompressible Navier-Stokes equation, but it can alternatively be derived from Euler’s continuity equation and the law of balance of momentum.
